World Trade Statistical Review 2019 looks into the latest trends in global trade, with an in-depth analysis of trade in goods and services and the performance of the leading players. It also looks at the participation of developing economies and least-developed countries in world trade, the latest developments in regional trade agreements, trade in value-added terms and digital trade.

In an introduction to the publication, Director-General Roberto Azevêdo says: "At a time of great uncertainty for global trade, the role of trade statistics takes on a renewed significance. Governments need the latest data to take informed decisions and to determine the best direction of trade policy for the benefit of the people they represent. The WTO's data-gathering role plays a big part in meeting this need."

A section on trade policy developments covers the trade-restrictive and trade-facilitating measures implemented by WTO members, implementation of the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement, trends in applied tariffs, disbursements under the Aid for Trade initiative, and the latest developments in trade finance.

The report's analytical chapters are complemented by over 60 tables providing a detailed breakdown of merchandise trade and trade in commercial services.

The merchandise trade data in the report was compiled in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) while commercial services data was jointly produced with UNCTAD and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Trade Profiles 2019 provides a series of key indicators on merchandise trade and trade in commercial services for 197 economies, including a breakdown of exports and imports for each economy as well as main trading partners. For each profile, the data are presented in a handy two-page format, providing a concise overview of global trade.

The two statistical publications can be downloaded from the WTO website. All charts and tables in the World Trade Statistical Review may be downloaded in excel or in pdf. Printed copies will be available in August.

French and Spanish editions of the two publications will be available for download by the end of August. Printed copies will be available in September.

Additional data are available through the WTO statistics webpage, the WTO DATA Portal and the International Trade and Market Access online data application. A further update of merchandise exports and imports will be available online in October.

The WTO also provides short-term trade data through the WTO statistics webpage. Time series data on merchandise and commercial services trade, on an annual basis, may also be downloaded here.
